Call for Interest- Laboratory Case Series, The SIMD laboratory workgroup will be offering a virtual education series in 2025, composed of 4 sessions. Each session will be divided into several parts. The first will be a 20-minute overview of a specific topic. The rest of the session will involve interactive practice modules led by subject matter experts (SME), through break-out groups. The modules could include laboratory interpretation, laboratory troubleshooting, procedures for linearity, data review for reference intervals, laboratory interferences, etc.
The target audience: fellows-in-training, and any interested practicing geneticist, metabolic, biochemical geneticist, neurologist.
The topics for the 2025 series will be amino acids, acylcarnitines, organic acids, integration session.

We are looking for SMEs that could lead break-out groups. The number of required SMEs will be influenced by the number of registrants.

New Season: Medical Biochemical Genetics Clinical Core Seminar Series The MBG-CCSS is a series of seminars providing an advanced, clinically based curriculum on an interactive virtual platform. The new season begins Friday, July 19, 2024. All seminars are on Zoom from 12pm (MST) to 1:30pm (MST). Lectures are archived for review, and CME is available for live participation. Resource: Case Database of Inherited Metabolic Disorders (CDB-IMD) The CDB-IMD is a new platform to enhance the recognition of Inherited Metabolic Disorders. Moreover, it can be used for learning and teaching of IMDs, in order to provide patients with a more timely diagnosis. It is open for all health care professionals as well as trainees/students who are interested in the field of IMDs. The CDB-IMD platform offers a rich repository of well-described patient cases, provided by health care professionals worldwide.
